Bahrain

Hundreds of burial mounds sit in a field beside the Shiite neighborhood of A'Ali in Bahrain. The houses in the background were built by wealth landowners on top hundreds of other burial mounds. There is a great clash of values taking place in Bahrain, as it has throughout a region where fabulous oil wealth and the intoxicating influence of globalization have often overwhelmed heritage and tradition.
