Covered in blood and holding swords Shiite Muslims mark the Ashoura outside of the Imam Hussein holy shrine in Karbala, Iraq. The Shiite holy month of Muharam reached its climax on Tuesday, its 10th day, when pilgrims reenacted the decapitation of the Imam Hussein at the battle of Karbala, when he and his 72 followers were lured into a trap and slaughtered by the Caliph Yazid's army.
