Shawn Baldwin is an award-winning video journalist, editor and photographer based in New York City with more than two decades of experience in international news.

Shawn has worked in more than 40 countries throughout the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe on stories ranging from the end of apartheid in South Africa to the Syrian refugee crisis. He lived in the Middle East from 2003-2014, covering the war in Iraq, revolutions in Egypt and Libya, and regional trends including the growing influence of hardline Islam for The New York Times and other leading print publications.

More recently, Shawn completed a masters degree in documentary filmmaking from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. His first film, a 24-minute documentary about the grave threats facing a young team of Egyptian journalists, premiered this summer. He has also produced, shot and edited original video stories on aging prisoners in California suffering from dementia, anti-vaccination groups in Marin County confronting a measles outbreak, and a Syrian Christian family in the U.S. whose relatives were captured by ISIS.
